Human Rights First welcomes applications for spring interns in its Law and Security program. Interns will be based in either HRF’s New York or Washington office and will be expected to commit to working up to 15 hours per week with a minimum 10-12 week commitment. This is an unpaid internship.
 
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Supporting program staff through legal and factual research on initiatives concerning U.S. national security policy, torture and other cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment, secret detention facilities, and military justice issues;
  • Bluebooking, proof-reading and cite-checking legal filings, memoranda, briefing materials and publications. 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:  Current law student at a U.S.-based institution
 
ANNUAL SALARY: This is an unpaid internship.
 
START DATE: Spring 2014 (approx. January 6, 2014)
