We are recruiting an Inventory Specialist to join our team of health care professionals. As an Inventory Specialist, you will be responsible for performing daily duties necessary for maintaining inventory levels, monitoring pricing, processing returns along with support for the operations for Ardon Health, an independent specialty pharmacy.   This support may include performing technician duties which would require an active Oregon Pharmacy Technician license.

Job type: Full-time

Pay range: $24.11-$30.14 per hour, depending on experience.

Position responsibilities:
  1. Process daily drug and supply orders and communicate any drug shortages/backorders/allocations.
  2. Receive drugs/supplies into perpetual inventory system.
  3. Ensure Ardon is compliant with FDA DSCSA guidelines.
  4. Processing returns to vendors while tracking credits and documenting Accounts Payable.
  5. Monitor shelves for Out of Dates and process returns.
  6. Monitor inventory for drug recalls and quarantine according to P&P’s.
  7. Match packing slips to invoices and while keeping track of any outstanding orders.
  8. Be aware of changing average wholesale prices (AWP) and costs to ensure the pharmacy obtains optimum reimbursement.
  9. Log rebates noted on invoices, scan and submit to accounting.
  10. Log all 340B orders received and attach invoices for accounting.
  11. Perform monthly inventory counts and document in our perpetual inventory system.
  12. Monitor/adjust inventory par level to ensure adequate stock levels on hand to service our patients and reduce excess inventory.
  13. Work daily, weekly, and monthly reports to identify and resolve any anomalies.
  14. Work on the excess inventory monthly to ensure full credits for timely returns.
  15. Process returns and damaged goods.
  16. Maintain quarterly drug formulary list updating as contracts change.
  17. Track non-formulary purchases to determine justification.
  18. Monitor shortage lists to proactively order medications and/or supplies with minimal disruption to our patients.
  19. Create action plans and provide alternative options for medications that are experiencing a critical shortage.
  20. Ensure adherence to accreditation standards/objectives.
  21. Regular attendance in conformance with the standards, which may be revised from time to time, is essential to the successful performance of this position.
  22. Extract vendor reports and update Access tables.
  23. Assist the pharmacy in a technical role, dispensing and shipping as when needed.
  24. Maintains active Oregon license. Informs supervisor within 1 business day (and Oregon Board of Pharmacy within 10 days) of any arrests, convictions, suspected or known violations of law, or any other conduct that might affect or has affected license status. Reports to Oregon Board of Pharmacy within 15 days any changes to name, residence address, or mailing address, email, phone, or employment.
  25. Actively participates and provides support as needed to leadership and quality program staff to ensure activities related to the company’s quality management program and quality improvement activities maintain priority focus and are effectively executed. This may include but is not limited to activities that promote objective and systematic measurement, monitoring, and evaluation of services and defined Quality Improvement Projects (QIPs) that may result from such efforts.
  26. Complies with the company’s Human Resources policies, Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and all department policies and procedures, including protecting confidential company, employee, and customer information; attending work punctually and regularly; and adhering to good safety practices in all activities.
  27. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Required skills:
  1. Education and experience
  1. Required:
      1. High school diploma or GED
      2. 5+ years’ experience in a specialty or retail pharmacy setting
      3. Active Oregon Pharmacy Technician License or Certified Oregon Pharmacy Technician License.
  2. Preferred:
  1. Knowledge of pharmacy prescription drug names and manufacturers
  2. Experience working directly with wholesalers.
  3. Experience maintaining a perpetual inventory system.
  4. Experience with analyzing and verifying vendor pricing.
  5. Knowledge of drug pricing strategies such as, Acq Cost, AWP Spread, AWP-, WAC-.
  6. Knowledge of the procurement lifecycle and professional

    2. Must be able to plan and implement projects with timelines.
    3. Must be able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
    4. Must be able to demonstrate the use of pharmacy references and resources,
    5. Must have excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
    6. Must be able to express oneself, detect, perceive, observe, and assess information exchanged in a variety of communication methods.
    7. Must be able to demonstrate proficiency with computer applications.
    8. Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  2. Working conditions:
    1. Work is performed in a pharmacy environment, with extensive keyboard and computer work. Work also involves frequent moving of packaging, boxes, and items from different areas within the warehouse. Packaging supplies weighing 40 pounds are regularly moved from the freezer to workstations.
    2. Business needs may occasionally require work in excess of 40 hours per week, including work outside of the standard work week.

    1. Internally with Ardon employees across multiple departments.
    2. Externally with clients and vendors.

  • Knowledge of pharmacy benefit investigation, prior authorization support, and patient financial assistance connection.
  • Prior experience working with physicians, nurses, or other healthcare professionals.
