Job Purpose:
The Operating Room Technician is an entry level medical position. The purpose is to support the ASC daily operations and through direct and indirect patient interaction, one day a week.
Essential Functions:
  • Regular attendance and punctuality – Wednesdays are mandatory.
  • Holds a current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification, or will obtain one within the first 3 months of employment.
  • Prepares and organizes the operating room equipment, instruments and supplies necessary for surgical procedures.
  • Receives inventory shipments and reconciles them with inventory orders.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment in the operating room.
  • Monitors inventory for expiration dates and rotating stock to avoid inventory loss.
  • Cleans, disinfects and sterilizes surgical instrumentation according to ANSI, AAMI and APIC standards.
  • Assists the healthcare team with patient positioning and patient transfers.
  • Assists with operating room turnovers between surgeries, to maintain a clean and sanitary environment.
  • Performs daily operating room data recording for state compliance.
  • Completes the laundry on a weekly basis, to include washing, drying, folding and putting away.
  • Exhibits strong respect for all co-workers.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Perform any other functions as required by nursing or doctor requests.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • High School graduate or equivalent
Preferred Skills
  • Prior experience in the medical setting
  • Current BLS Certification
