We have an exciting opportunity to join a Professional Services Not-For-Profit. This important position will help grow their global community of 90,000 members. Membership provides the benefits and resources for students and professionals to learn, contribute, and stay connected to the engineering field.

The Manager of Membership Lifecycle Marketing will be responsible for the end-to-end marketing to members, from acquisition to retention. This individual will develop and execute the marketing strategy for a subscription product and must have a consumer-centric mindset and the ability to understand our target consumer. This role involves managing multiple channels including email, social media, search, and direct mail. The ideal candidate will also be involved in developing the go-to-market strategy and execution for new products, features, and benefit launches as well as market expansion opportunities.

  • Location: Remote
  • Duration: 6-month contract with a chance for full-time hire

What you’ll do:

This individual will be responsible for 4 phases of the membership marketing lifecycle:

  • Acquisition – gain new members, including converting free trialist to paid members
  • Onboarding & Engagement – increase adoption and usage of benefits and awareness of membership features; increase frequency of benefits usage
  • Retention & Upgrades – secure renewals and upsell to premium membership offerings; develop strategies to regain and save lapsed memberships
  • Loyalty & Advocacy – Turn retention into loyalty and satisfied members into advocates to help us grow on campus and in new markets

 

Strategy

  • Lead omni-channel lifecycle marketing strategy for membership based on data-driven approach, with strong focus on digital (search, retargeting, social media) and content marketing.
  • Set the overall strategy and direction for digital marketing and review ongoing results, partnering with internal and external stakeholders to reach monthly sales targets. Provide recommendations to reallocate budget based on performance.
  • Develop go-to-market strategy and execution for new product, feature, and benefit launches for domestic and international members that align with enterprise goals.
  • Build acquisition strategies for new market segments, membership types, and international growth.
  • Develop a customer conversion strategy that maximizes lifetime revenue by converting free trialists to paid subscribers.
  • Craft a messaging strategy that will help guide customers along their product journey.

 

Development & Implementation

  • Implement a data-informed approach to customer targeting and campaign measurement.
  • Develop and execute an inbound content strategy to attract new members.
  • Focus on SEO optimization and content to ensure ASME membership solutions appear to target actively seeking consumers.
  • Devise Freemium to Premium content marketing models to creates new entry points for potential member prospects.
  • Evaluate and map the customer journey from pre-purchase to enrollment to renewal to improve member touchpoints and conversions.  Understand key areas of member pain points within the user experience and be able to partner with the appropriate resources to create a seamless process for joining or renewing membership. This includes paid and trial memberships.
  • Execute multivariate tests and pilot campaigns to continually improve marketing creatives that resonate with different segments. Develop a robust and evolving A/B testing schedule to leverage and optimize new types of content geared towards maximizing conversion.
  • Build, optimize, and oversee marketing automation strategy and journeys related to lifecycle phases.
  • Partner with Manager, Membership Operations to build and execute campaigns across channels, including renewal efforts and winback programs.
  • Partner with in-house design and content teams to develop engaging campaigns
  • Oversee all marketing to ensure creative is on-strategy and builds a cohesive story across all channels.
  • Develop creative and copy targeted to student, early career, and professional engineers for all campaigns to drive loyalty and retention.
  • Devise creative marketing propositions and campaigns to increase engagement, long-term loyalty and satisfaction of members.
  • Educate our member base about our products and their benefits through member-focused content.


Data & Reporting

  • Build and manage monthly run rate reports for acquisition and retention targets.
  • Analyze data and communicate results to stakeholders and cross-functional partners. Drive continuous improvement of strategies and tactics.
  • Report on program performance against top-line business critical metrics and KPIs.

 

What you have:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree (Marketing or related concentration) and 10+ years of relevant marketing experience with a focus on lifecycle marketing
  • Prior experience with subscription products or services a plus
  • Successful track-record of developing marketing strategies and managing multiple marketing channels, including digital marketing, content marketing, SEO, social media
  • Must have experience with marketing automation and Salesforce Marketing Cloud
  • Proven A/B and multivariate testing experience
  • Proven skill in leading and working with cross-functional teams (e.g., IT, Web, Design) and managing vendor relationships
  • Strong ability to set creative direction for marketing
  • Proven ability to problem solve
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects and work independently, keeping to tight deadlines
  • Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to glean insights from data and develop a story
  • Strong curiosity to learn, share best practices, and be a self-starter
  • Possess a positive, team-player attitude and good interpersonal skills
  • Highly proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint
