Plant/Production Manager

We are working with a plant-based food manufacturer outside of Omaha, Nebraska that is looking for a strong manufacturing leader. This role is with a company that has grown a great deal and recently moved from using co-packers to manufacturing their own delicious plant-based products. The Plant Manager is responsible for operational objectives, driving company culture and maintaining a world class operation. Please apply if interested!

 

Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Manage and evaluate the production resources to ensure high quality productivity with minimal down time.
  • Plan, implement and control and the production schedule and make revisions and adjustments as necessary.
  • Manages a continuous improvement system that engages employees in systematic, data-based improvement activities and succession planning.
  • Assures and supports employee safety, food safety and product quality initiatives for the ongoing production of safe and defect-free products
  • Drives continuous improvement activities to achieve world class manufacturing excellence by leading, modeling, and embedding into the culture an innovative, “can do”, and LEAN approach.
  • Recommends and implements changes in methods, equipment, systems, and organization as needed to assure that the objectives of the plant are achieved.
  • Prepares an Operational Plan for the plant and its operations.
  • Prepares an annual Operating Expense Budget and monthly forecast for and tracks facility’s ongoing performance against the budget.
  • Prepares and manages a Capital Expenditure Budget for each Fiscal Year.
  • Establishes site goals and strategies; measures, controls, takes corrective action, and reports results as appropriate in all areas of responsibility.
  • Builds a best-in-class culture to become an employer of choice; focusing on innovation, high performance, accountability, autonomy, a make-it-happen mentality, and whole person health.
  • Supervises plant’s preparation for GFSI and other third-party audits.
  • Works closely with Quality to ensure the highest standards are maintained and that all relevant certifications (BRC, Kosher, Organic etc.) are in place and current
  • Assures the appropriate systems and resources exist to protect all factory employees and associated partners while safeguarding the environment.
  • Leads and develops plant team of 25+ to ensure they accomplish company objectives, do their best work; are treated well, and understand the value they create and their importance to the team.
  • Provides resources and training needed to execute the plant’s Operational Plan.
  • Assumes total responsibility and accountability for profitability of the facility.
  • Works directly with state, local, and national regulatory agencies, and the Quality Director, to ensure ongoing compliance with all regulatory requirements; serves on the recall team.
  • Maintains plant equipment, buildings, and structures to a high standard and ensures the maximum availability and efficient use of all production equipment and services.
  • Works with the CEO on Employment Law requirements and Labor Relations issues.

Required Skills/Qualifications (including but not limited to):

  • Five (5) years in a production management position in a high care manufacturing facility preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and lead people
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, quickly changing, and innovative environment
  • Bachelor degree in a relevant field would be advantageous.
  • Knowledge of quality systems and process improvement techniques
  • Demonstrated ability in the Microsoft suite
  • Supply chain and business financial reporting expertise
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, HACCP, BRC, Organic, and Kosher certification processes
  • Ability to effectively lead organization and personnel and utilize human assets in accomplishing bottom line focused objectives to improve operations and achieve and maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to identify, assess, and develop business development / process improvement projects and appropriate financial justification.
  • Ability to develop personnel competencies and provide clear and concise understanding of objectives for the organization.
  • Capability to prepare subordinate/s for transition to position of Plant Manager or other higher-level position/s in the organization.
  • Ability to handle conflict and display excellent diplomacy skills in handling situations which can be disruptive to the organization’s business development.
