We spend the majority of our time on getting data into proper shape, performing statistical analyses, developing predictive models and machine learning algorithms to solve clients’ business problems.  We evaluate different sources of data, discover patterns hidden within raw data, create insightful variables, and develop competing models with different machine learning algorithms. We validate and cross validate our recommendations to make sure our recommendations will perform well over time.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about managing the successful delivery of the algorithms, statistical models and reporting tools to meet business needs. The Lead Data Scientist will act as the Analytics Team Lead for large and complex projects involving multiple resources and tasks, providing individual mentoring to team members.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work with practice leaders and clients to understand clients’ business problem, industry context, data sources, potential risk and constraints
  • Problem solve with practice leaders to translate the business program into a solvable Data Science problem, formulate different approaches, outline pros and cons for each approach
  • Work with practice leaders to get client feedback, get alignment on approaches, deliverables, and overall timeline
  • Develop a project plan including key milestones, timeline, and contingency plan
  • Develop complex algorithms and statistical predictive models and determines analytical approaches and modelling techniques to evaluate scenarios and potential future outcomes
  • Perform analyses of structured and unstructured data to solve multiple and complex business problems utilizing advanced data science and machine learning techniques and specialized industry expertise
  • Applies analytical rigor & statistical methods to analyse large amounts of data, using advanced statistical techniques
  • Manage large & complex analytical projects: data exploration, model building, performance evaluation & testing
  • Behaves as mentor to junior team members to provide technical advice
  • Collaborate w/business partners to develop technical/business approaches and new/enhanced technical tools
  • Interacts with internal and external peers and management to share highly complex information related to areas of expertise and/or to gain acceptance of new or enhanced technology / business solutions

Qualifications:

  • MS or PhD degree in quantitative studies, such as Statistics, Math, Operation Research, Economics, Advanced Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering
  • 7-10 years’ professional experience in Advanced Data Science, such as predictive modelling, statistical analysis, machine learning, text mining, geo-spatial analytics, time series forecasting, optimization
  • Experience with one or more Advanced Data Science software languages (R, Python, SAS)
  • Experience with structured or un-structured data analysis and tools (SQL, Hadoop, Spark, NoSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, Hive, Tableau)
  • Experience with cloud-based platforms (AWS, Azure, Google)
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical ideas and results to non-technical clients in written and verbal form
  • Strong organizational, management and leadership skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare insurance industry, products, systems, business strategies and products
