This position is responsible for directing the engineering function of a national dairy manufacturing company. This role will have multi-site responsibility while coordinating with manufacturing & distribution. The ideal candidate will have strong project management skills with a background in food or pharma manufacturing AND be able to lead a dynamic team managing projects across multiple facilities. Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Develop and lead Engineering team – Project Managers & Controls Engineers
  • Lead project management across the company’s facilities
  • Initiate new technologies, automation and equipment to promote efficiency
  • Work with vendors/contractors
  • Develop and manage the capital budget. Coordinate with operations on projects
  • Assign and delegate task & projects – ensure timely completion within budget
  • Ensures employee safety, food safety & policies are followed
  • Communicates effectively across all departments to achieve results
  • Report on engineering variances & adjust projects as needed
  • Responsible for interviewing, hiring & training employees. Must also complete employee performance reviews, addressing and resolving issues


Required Skills/Qualifications (including but not limited to):

  • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
  • 10+ years’ experience in a food or pharma manufacturing in an engineering role
  • Must have a background leading engineering teams while being hands on
  • Able to speak effectively to management & vendors concerning production improvements
  • Able to develop written reports & budgets
  • Needs to have strong project management skills including ability to manage multiple multi-plant projects simultaneously
  • Comfortable performing calculations & apply them to production process improvements
  • Strong ability to multi-task, delegate appropriately and ensure projects finished within budget and timely
  • Able to stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Past experience leading PLC and controls automation function
  • Must be available to travel up to 60%
  • Proficiency and experience with Microsoft Office
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment background checks
