Our Swiss client, a leading worldwide supplier of high performance optical sensor solutions is in search of a:
Optical Element Data Analysis Engineer for MetrologyA data analysis engineer for processing of metrology and production data of high-performance optical components, such as refractive lenses, micro lens arrays and diffractive optical elements is sought. The main job function is to develop, improve and integrate data processing, correction algorithms and deliver software packages in MATLAB for engineering and manufacturing teams to solve challenging engineering problems associated with development of wafer level optics.
Tasks and responsibilities
- As data analysis engineer and Metrology lead, contribute to optical component development programs and failure analysis activities working in cross-functional teams across areas of R&D, product development, manufacturing and quality.
- Develop a variety of standalone/executable software tools with Matlab (or Python) to automate processing of 2D and 3D raw data files from measurement instruments.
- Optimize software tools to minimize artifacts and aberrations from the measurement instruments.
- Process and analyze production data and correlate to final test results.
- Prepare Metrology reports with quantitative and compact conclusions.
- Be able to communicate and collaborate with multiple groups.
- Perform topography measurements on microstructures in the clean room with confocal microscope, profilometers, AFM, etc.
- Develop, maintain and improve database structures and capabilities.
Education/experience
- University degree (Bachelor or Master) in Engineering or Natural Sciences or related field. PhD is a plus
- High proficiency in data analysis and programming with MATLAB is a necessity. Other common processing language skills (e.g. Python ) are a plus.
- Knowledge of design/process excellence (Six Sigma, Lean) and statistical data analysis tools (JMP) would be considered a major plus
- Experience with database coding such SQL desirable, but not a necessity
- Hands-on experience of 3D-Metrology (profilometry, AFM, 3D confocal microscopy, etc.)
- Hard working and patient. Work with a high degree of responsibility and self-reliance. Flexible for new tasks.
- Fluent English (spoken and written)
- Required Skills

- Degree in micro/nanotechnology, micro-optics, physics or natural sciences
- High-level experience in data analysis and programming with MATLAB
- 3D-Metrology (profilometry, AFM, 3D confocal microscopy, etc.)
- English fluency
- EU citizen or Swiss work permit holder
- Optional Skills
