Production Manager- Dairy

Position Location: Greater Seattle, WA area

Reports to: Plant Manager

Hours: Monday- Friday 4a.m to 3p.m

This role is with a natural family owned company located in the Greater Seattle, WA area. The primary purpose of the Production Manager is to direct the activities of the production departments while also collaborating with Quality, Safety, Regulatory, Warehouse & Maintenance. The ideal candidate will excel in a fast-paced environment and can handle multiple projects simultaneously while demonstrating strong attention to detail, have 3+ years working in dairy manufacturing and 3+ years of previous management experience in a food manufacturing setting.

Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Responsible for the direct management and supervision of production employees to maximize productivity
  • Provide leadership & guidance to Production Supervisors & Leads
  • Provide direction to ensure production schedules are met, equipment maintained, employees properly trained & that the individual performance of subordinates meet and/or exceed goals and expectations
  • Sponsor CI initiates & provide momentum to ensure successful completion
  • Prepare & conduct team meetings to ensure proper communications and updates
  • Assess, identify & report on plant operations & fiscal impact
  • Partner with CI leaders to implement Lean principles & practices
  • Ensure compliance with all safety, quality & production procedures, policies and regulations are followed
  • Ensure that the established policy rules, regulations, and procedures are followed
  • Complete & maintain all required reports properly and accurately
  • Maintain and ensure a safe, efficient and effective work environment while building a culture of accountability, commitment & empowerment
  • Decisively address production issues to guarantee swift resolution and minimal upset
  • Recommends improvements to production methods, equipment, and products
  • Communicates & collaborates with other management to coordinate activities of departments & ensure a safe, continuous product flow & proper maintenance of equipment
  • Plan, prioritize & organize work to ensure all deadlines are met
  • Performs other duties and/or assignments as directed

 

Required Skills/Qualifications (including but not limited to):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or related field is preferred
  • Must have 3-5+ years of dairy manufacturing experience 
  • 3+ years of supervisory/management experience in a food manufacturing facility  
  • Needs to be able to work Monday through Friday 4a.m to 3p.m
  • Must be familiar with PLC based process controls & have knowledge of HACCP, GMP, OSHA & Department of Labor Operational Standards
  • Physical ability to frequently move and/or lift up to 75 pounds as well as stand, sit, & other physical activities Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Needs to be proficient with computers & Microsoft Office and its programs
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment background, drug and criminal screens
