SECURITY SME SOLUTIONS ENGINEER – Minneapolis, MN

Position Summary:

The Solution Engineer will serve as a Security Subject Matter Expert and will be a key member of the customer facing sales team. The SME will be responsible for providing advanced pre/post-sales support for the channel sales team by designing, proposing and closing both existing and new opportunities and ensuring a successful customer experience.  Additionally, this role will provide support and give advice to Company partners and recommend the best solutions to clients.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Collect customer business and technical requirements and recommend solutions
  • Provide C-Level presentations and seminars
  • Identify current security issues and products and services that mitigate them
  • Perform in-depth security assessments and security reports
  • Develop security plans and evaluate them to determine effectiveness of current controls
  • Evaluate complex security architecture based on customer risk level
  • Perform penetration testing
  • Educate customers on incident response and SOC services
  • Maintain internal security posture
  • Work with and/or provide guidance with firewalls, proxies, VPNs, endpoint security tools AV, IPS, SSL inspection, SIEM or security monitoring platforms
  • Train on emerging and leading security technologies
  • Perform advanced technical presentations for customers and prospects remotely and in person
  • Jointly work with sales team to grow end customer revenue through training, product knowledge and closing business
  • Conduct customer presentation on value proposition and technical solutions
  • Assist sales team with strategy as it relates to technical aspects of hardware, software or managed services.
  • Attend partner and customer meetings
  • Meet with key vendors to stay current on products and technologies

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/MIS/Computer Science/or at least10 years in the computer security field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working on the pre-sales side with customers
  • Ability to deliver high standards of technical thought leadership with customers through activities such as education, consultation, presentation, technical evaluations objective handling or general supportive discussion
  • Understand vendor solution technologies and how they can be leveraged to solve customer security issues and concerns while mitigating risk
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills (oral, written and presentation)
  • Highly analytical and ability to problem solve
  • Flexibility to handle varying workload and multiple projects while still meeting tight deadlines
  • Ability to self-educate themselves on current and upcoming technology and trends
  • Ability to travel up to 50%
