This is an opportunity to serve as a leading member of a team developing the next generation Command and Control software for the US Navy.   In this role you will apply Model Based Software Engineering principals to validate and maintain project architecture and software.  Development will occur off-site at a government lab.  This project will be updating and modernizing an existing command and control communications system - your contribution will have a direct impact on using and employing these communications networks!   As the MBSE your attention to detail and adherence to development principals will enhance system fidelity and reduce system risk.

As a Model-Based Software Engineer you will serve as a key member of the Command and Control (C2P) Software Modernization effort.   The Model-Based Software Engineer with a strong software technical background will develop, validate, and maintain models of complex systems using modeling tools and languages such as SysML, UML, etc. as well as assist customers in applying various modeling and software design approaches and techniques toward project success. 


  • Develop executable architectures and process in order to provide informed recommendations on technical and engineering matters using Model-Based Systems Engineering tools and activities.
  • Document the system and software design using Unified Modeling Language (UML) and modify existing sequence diagrams and models to support new program requirements.
  • Apply skills and adaptability in various areas that may include resolution of software systems issues. Support may include software development; life-cycle guidance; software consulting; software architectures; enterprise systems; and other related areas.
  • Provide technology recommendations, risk assessments, trade studies, and analyses
  • Provide expertise at technical interchange meetings, reviews, and briefings to customer and internal team personnel
  • Ensure that all data collected by the program can be archived in a standard format and made available to any larger effort
  • Identify risks and functional areas affected when new capabilities or software fixes are applied to the program
  • Regular attendance to be performed at US government facilities during regular business hours. 
  • The ability to work non-standard work hours and schedules in support of project requirements. 

Core Competencies:


  • 10 or more years of experience with Software UML Modeling
  • Experience using Magic Draw Modeling Tool
  • BS in a relevant engineering technical discipline
  • US Citizenship
  • Active Secret Clearance


  • Inter-personnel and customer service skills required to interface with corporate customers
  • Ability to effectively communicate with the Customer, SSC-Pacific Center's staff, and peer contractor personnel
  • Motivated self-starter who will bring new ideas to the project
