General Manager- Cultured/Ice Cream
We are working with a large dairy manufacturing company who is looking for a General Manager. The General Manager is an important part of the senior leadership team, and is an integral part of the business. This person would be collaborating and working cross functionally with all aspects of the business (people, sales, pricing, marketing, innovation, customer development, operations, and profitability). Must have strong leadership skills***
Duties (including but not limited to):
- Develops & manages operating plan to meet or exceed business objectives.
- Determines strategies & tactics for achieving financial objectives, presenting assumptions & recommending objectives.
- Makes sound business projections, identifies the impact of budgetary assumption changes, & makes appropriate adjustments.
- Regularly evaluates business plan trade-offs, capital strategy and communicates any critical issues to the executive team. Presents trade-offs with sound recommendations for different courses of action.
- Effectively leads the cross-functional team to achieve business objectives & manage employee job performance. Communicates company goals & assists direct reports in establishing goals that align with department & company goals. Provides on-going performance feedback & conducts performance conversations with direct reports. Holds direct & indirect reports accountable for results & works with them to cultivate their capabilities & utilize their strengths.
- Approves pricing strategies to maximize operating income for assigned business unit, considering the impact to the company as a whole, while working collaboratively with Sales and Trade Marketing. Analyzes cost drivers such as commodities, fuel, resin, etc., to determine selling price. Monitors market conditions (customer, competitor, and consumer) to determine demands and opportunities & recommends action.
- Leads Operation Team to direct production activities & ensure safety and compliance with quality control standards, regulatory compliance & lease agreements. Drives operational excellence by improving the planning & scorecarding disciplines for the operations team.
- In partnership with Sales teams, develops strategies to grow volume for the business. Considers the impact to the company overall when evaluating potential new business opportunities.
- Develops strategies & initiatives to optimize distribution.
- Effectively leads cross-functional projects related to growth opportunities, continuous improvement, & other key business initiatives. Sets clear direction for project teams & involves appropriate people and functions to design, develop & implement key continuous improvement initiatives & ensure standard processes, tool, etc. are implemented & leveraged effectively. Accountable for meeting project objectives through well-coordinated & integrated work efforts. Uses a collaborative approach to ensure that new initiatives are well-executed.
- Partners with Marketing to successfully commercialize new product launches and product improvements to the marketplace. The team will successfully bring ideas from concept to marketplace launch.
- Leads sku rationalization to manage & maintain portfolio health.
- Effectively manages risk to the business unit & company by considering the legal implications of business decisions. Exercises sound judgment when entering into contractual agreements related to new business & consults next level manager as appropriate.
- Hires, manages, coaches, & identify professional development opportunities for team members.
Job Requirements (including but not limited to):
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field is preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in in managing cross- functional teams of including Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain and/or Operations.
- Food/Beverage Industry experience (Ice Cream or dairy a plus)
- Finance/Sales background a plus
- Must be hands on polished leader.
