Our headquarters and laboratory are located in Grand Rapids, Michigan with a national sales team positioned throughout the country. With our growth, we are seeking a Bioinformatics Developer to support our analysis of bioinformatics software tools as well as support various IT needs throughout the laboratory and office. Here’s who we’re looking for:

  • A dynamic professional with a Master’s degree in Computer Science or similar degree (applicable work experience may substitute for degree) to:
    • Collaborate and consult with scientists to analyze problems, recommend technology-based solutions, and design computational strategies for biological research.
    • Integrate with existing processes and help develop tools for workflow optimization through automation.
    • Contribute to the design, development, implementation, and testing of bio-computing tools as part of the genomics programs. Develop computational tools in biology that use genomic data to generate biological hypotheses.
    • Create or modify web-based bioinformatics tools, public domain biological databases and software tools for sequence, domain, and structural analysis.
    • Help manage LIS interface with Pathagility or other LIS companies.
    • Ensure completion of deliverables and adherence to timelines.
    • Analyze and resolve issues that have the potential to jeopardize performance and/or ability to meet agreed upon deliverables.
    • Recommend new programming opportunities, new systems and processes, and improvements in operations. Implement operational improvements approved by senior management.
  • An understanding and extensive working knowledge in R, Linux, and Shell Scripting.
  • Experience using C# and MySQL is preferred.
  • An excellent communicator who welcomes a challenge, prioritizes well, and takes initiative in their work.
  • A driven, versatile, proactive, and flexible self-starter who can work both independently and collaboratively. Our ideal candidate will stay focused in the face of distractions in our always bustling office. There’s never a boring day!
