Controls Engineer

Overview: We are working with an organic food manufacturer in the Capital District on a Controls Engineer role!  This position is being added on to their engineering team because they are growing. Our client is looking for a strong technical electrical engineer who is comfortable in a highly automated industrial setting.  Please apply with us ASAP to be considered!

Job Duties:

  • Support automation systems within the plant – PLC’s, VFDs and safety devices
  • Participates in the engineering & maintenance of plant equipment and facilities
  • Ensures work quality and is involved in plant CI plans
  • Works with management to plan and review technical plans for the facility
  • Coordinates with management on production schedules, identifies resource needs, and communicates action plans
  • Prepares analytical & statistical reports on operations and other plant activities
  • Be an active participant in group meetings
  • Stays up to date on engineering and maintenance trends and technical updates.
  • Prepares system integration plans, system specification, factory & site documents and drawings
  • Works with management to identify and establish schedules for providing services
  • Assists management in the creation of training materials and project documentation
  • Supports prep for capital project plans, budgets and schedules
  • Helps to develop policies and procedures while making recommendations for changes and improvements

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors or Associates Degree in related field with 3+ years’ experience working in a manufacturing controls environment.
  • Must come from an industrial manufacturing environment. Food manufacturing preferred, although any type of automated manufacturing experience is acceptable
  • Must be very technical. Must have strong understanding of electrical control systems –preferred systems: Rockwell PLC, ControlLogix, HMI/Factory Talk
  • Possess knowledge of design, specification & implementation of software & hardware systems
  • Comfortable working in a highly automated plant
  • Previous capital project planning and development experience
  • Able to coordinate on a team level and coordinate cross functionally
  • Very proficient in Microsoft Office – Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
  • Highly effective problem-solving skills, strong ability to think outside of the box
