Talent Orchard LLC, a boutique talent acquisition consulting firm, has been contracted by a large defense contractor in their search for a Systems Engineer in the Arlington, VA area. This is a Mechanical Engineering/Systems Engineering long term opportunity.
In this role, your responsibilities will look like this:
The role is for a Technical SME and the main priority is to have someone with Modeling and Simulation experience. The customer is specifically looking for a person to run an international collaboration program with Japan. The candidate must have a Master’s Degree and significant experience in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and SysML software language development. Experience with amphibious vehicle hydrodynamics is also desired.
The position will require several trips to Japan, along with trips to Atlanta (GTRI), Quantico and other Customer vehicle centers of excellence. Customer is investing in next generation amphibious vehicles, so you would be able to work with new technology on amphibious vehicle specific with hydrodynamics on how it goes through water. Will interface with Japan and interface with Georgia Interstate Technical in Hydrodynamic analysis. These are like duck boats and the customer wants them to hydroplane and go faster to the beach.
Using a holistic approach, designs, develops, evaluates and modifies end-to-end systems and systems-oriented products through their entire life cycle. Generates quantifiable requirements based on customer description, system planning and design, and acquisition logistics. Ensures requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods. Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with other engineering disciplines to develop lower level detailed implementation requirements. Establishes and coordinates development of standards, practices, and procedures as related to the overall product development. Designs interfaces and brings system elements together so they work as a whole. Assesses performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures. Customer liaison and support for business development activities and to understand and shape requirements. Participates in system conceptual design and documentation of the design concepts. Translates high level product development strategies into system requirement specifications and works with multi-discipline engineering teams to develop lower level detailed requirements. Participates in design reviews of components (hardware and software) to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation. Generates system level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures. Reviews test plans/procedures and ensures they meet the objectives of the contractual requirements and participates in the testing process to validate requirements.
Background requirements for the role:
- Requires Active DOD Secret Clearance
- 16+ years with BS/BA or 14+ years with MS/MA or 10+ years with Ph.D. Master’s Degree or PhD desired
- Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) a must
- SysML experience required
- Experience in ground vehicles highly desired, especially amphibious vehicles
- International program experience desired, especially Japan
- Program Management experience desirable
- Ability to travel - 2 trips to Japan and 2 trips to Georgia for one week long. Trip to Quantico.
