Principal Architect

Summary

The Principal Architect provides support and leadership to the architecture community within (client) and leads the integrated planning and architecture efforts across IT & Planning. This individual must be able to collaborate easily and cross functionally with various departments and influence at all levels of the organization including senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Architecture
    • Maintains the enterprise level IT architecture processes  
    • Directs efforts to define architecture standards that are aligned with business goals, IT strategy, and enterprise architecture visions                                                                        
    • Leads the architecture review board activities to include the oversight of the architecture center of excellence to include best practices and tools used by the architects throughout (client) IT                                                                                           
    • Ensures IT processes and standards are refreshed on a regular basis
    • Ensures that key IT platform roadmaps are developed and reviewed on a regular basis
    • Monitors technological advancements to ensure that solutions are continuously improved, supported, and aligned with industry and company standards as well as emerging business requirements
  • Planning
    • Leads the integrated planning efforts across an 18 month rolling time horizon
    • Key participant in IT strategy refresh activities
    • Lead Enterprise Kanban activities with both the IT and Planning teams
    • Continuously focuses on building strong business relationships and serves as a key strategic partner
  • Be a change agent to drive agile business execution, ROI driven accountability, and cross functional collaboration
  • Provide creative solutions for complex challenges by problem solving and analytical reasoning
  • Negotiate and resolve differences of opinion across organizational departments to drive results in support of the business need

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree Required in Computer Science or Related Field

Required Skills and Experience

  • Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • 8 plus years of progressive IT experience with at least 2 years in a senior level role within IT planning or architecture
  • Prior leadership experience with an IT environment preferred
  • Proven project and process management skill set
  • Strong problem solving and decision making skills with excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • General knowledge of all IT disciplines and technology platforms
  • Knowledge of Agile and Lean
  • Demonstrated broad knowledge of major aspects of IT operations, including project management, systems development, systems analysis and design, and budget administration; with broad exposure and practical experience in IT management
  • Working knowledge and use of Standard IT processes and methodologies (i.e. ITIL, PMI, ARB and SDLC)
  • Ability to implement standards and operating metrics
  • Proven experience in IT application, data, mobility and infrastructure planning and development
  • Outstanding organizational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize workload and attention to detail.
