We are looking for a Resin SME (Subject Matter Expert).

Key Activities:

Support in the definition of Resins Materials Strategy and cooperate in the creation of Technology roadmaps for the assigned resin technology streams.

Execute developments with suppliers according to the client internal development process, activities and deliverables, to deliver and validate technology solutions for new features in the resins space, in cooperation with product development engineers, quality, manufacturing, suppliers, procurement, etc depending on the kind and scope of project. 

Contribute to feed our resins innovation pipeline by executing tech scouting activities with suppliers and external entities such as universities and development centers for resins,  including lab testing, manufacturing validations, workshops for idea generation.

Creation of specifications and test procedures when requested for any new development.

Materials knowledge:

Proper material selection across a wide range of functional applications and polymers families

Proficient in polymers science

At least 3-5 years experience in materials technology dealing with plastics and plastics processing

Deep Knowledge of Plastics main failure modes

Complete polymer characterization

Deep knowledge in main testing procedures

Regulatory requirements of pertinent Region and Category (restricted substances, food contact, flammability): how to assess risk and compliance, certify and find alternatives

Knowledge and direct contact with resins producers and moulders in category of interest

Education :

Bachelor’s degree in Materials, Chemistry or similar

Technical Skills:

New Projects support

Able to select material in new, unique and difficult situations

Able to interact and support product design engineers in design optimization

Able to understand outcomes from moldflow and FE analysis and suggest part/tool design or process parameters adjustments accordingly

Able to run stand-alone materials development projects with full validation on final application

Quality

Able to troubleshoot non-standard quality issues related to plastic parts and bring issues to resolution until the end

Costing

Basics in plastic parts costing including process and base resins

Lab Operations

Able to carry out full resin characterization

Able to carry out main resin tests

General

Facilitate and coach at project level
