Overview:  This is a newly created position with a national food manufacturer.  The Supply Quality Manager is a key position within the organization that will support supplier quality. Heavily focus on auditing and ensuring that the company’s suppliers are providing high quality ingredients.  The ideal candidate will have a solid quality foundation within food manufacturing with a focus in supplier quality.

Job Duties:

  • Maintain vendor compliance to the organization’s supplier qualifications
  • Ensures vendors are following FSMA guidelines – which includes validation reviews, raw material hazard analysis & risk assessments
  • Ensure that supply chain controls are being met and verification is being done to ensure compliance
  • Assess vendor food safety policies and lab testing meets supply chain controls
  • Develop ways to test vendors for high risk management testing.
  • Coordinate with R&D team to create microbiological specifications for all ingredients
  • Obtain knowledge from external technical organizations to spread best practices and trends across the business unit
  • Ensures compliance of all vendor documentation, validation studies & preventive for high risk ingredient categories
  • Continue to build subject matter expertise with audit team on lab compliance, EMP, and food microbiology tactical activities
  • Execute food safety supplier audits. Ensures food safety plans are within FSMA compliance
  • Lead vendor nonconformance reviews. Provide oversight and put into place corrective action plans
  • Provide resolution & solutions to supplier/vendor complaints across the organization


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required. Master’s Degree preferred
  • 5+ years’ experience working in the food manufacturing doing vendor management, and auditing
  • Past experience processing reviews for FSMA compliance
  • Well versed with HACCP, environmental monitoring and processing
  • Background with quality investigations and root case analysis
  • Solid foundation with supply chain, raw materials, food safety, food processing technologies, HACCP, & raw material specification development
  • Experience working with internal business partners and procurement
  • Strong business acumen
  • Able to communicate with all levels of the organization effectively
  • Great problem-solving skills can function well in a team setting
