Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Conducts reviews of product categories & provides guidance to the innovation team in setting up regulatory framework for product development.
  • Develops & implements creative regulatory strategies to achieve department & organization objectives.
  • Develops, administers & maintains the company's change control system product formulation, specifications & regulatory compliance documentation.
  • Reviews & approves specifications of finished product processing & labeling, raw materials, product certificates of analysis, & finished product/ingredient non-compliance.
  • Monitors regulatory activities (via searches of government internet web sites, Federal Register Publications and other government & industry communication vehicles) & proactively presents, advises & executes internal programs associated with these activities.
  • Acts as the principal department contact for handling, planning & responding to regulatory questions & requests.
  • Directs the company on nutritional issues & product development opportunities based on or supported by nutritional needs and desires of the consumers.
  • Advises senior management on internal policies & nutritional standards & practices to be followed within product platforms.
  • Develops nutrition facts panels & on-package consumption direction. Assures effective participation by staff in the cross-functional review of all official formulas to confirm their accuracy, conformance to nutritional targets & completeness of all nutritional information.
  • Manages maintenance & updating of the ingredient-based nutritional databases for the GQM and A/X ERP system.
  • Partners with Customer Loyalty, Marketing, Communication & Food Service Sales teams to assist in the execution of nutrition outreach programs.
  • Develops new understandings about the nutritional content of products and the health benefits that may be derived from their consumption. Manage the development of informational materials about nutrition of products both for consumers and health professionals.
  • Maintains and audits website & other locations where nutritional information exists 
  • Collects & maintains relevant spec sheets and support material for 3rd party audits

 

Required Skills/Qualifications (including but not limited to):

  • 5+ years of Regulatory and Nutrition experience
  • BS in Nutrition or a Food Science-related field preferred
  • Experience with computer software program NUTRIFORM is a plus
  • Understanding of FDA regulations & monograph system as they relate to Food Products.
  • Ability to prepare detailed/accurate documentation.
  • Work independently to meet deadlines on a multitude of concurrent tasks.
  • Develop & maintain an effective working relationship with internal/external customers, as well as being a team player
  • Maintain discretion with confidential information.
  • Strong organizational & analytical abilities.
