Job Title:     High Performance Computing Engineer

Contract Type:     W2 Employee | 1099 Contractor | Corp 2 Corp

Work Location:     San Francisco, CA

Duration:     6-12 Months


Role Description: 

  • Support migration of Research HPC applications using our toolchain, based on EasyBuild and Lmod of applications using users with job optimization, scheduling best practices and issue resolution
  • Ownership of HPC issue identification and remediation in partnership with Operations
  • Continuous monitoring and improvement of compute performance
  • Propose, design and lead proof of concept projects for new HPC technologies
  • Migration, maintenance and disposal of existing HPC storage shares as needed
  • Engage with large data generating organizations to develop smarter HPC technology and policy standards

         
Essential Skills: 

  • HPC Skills, HPC Job Scheduling, HPC related Trouble Shooting, Linux, Strong skills of System Operations, networking, GPU, parallel computing,
  • Excellent understanding of NAS, parallel filesystems, NFS & CIFS/SMB protocols. Scripting and programming skills in Bash, Python/Perl

           
Desirable Skills: 

  • B.S. degree in information systems, engineering, or relevant scientific discipline required
  • Scripting and programming skills in Bash, Python or Perl a must
  • Excellent understanding of NAS, parallel filesystems, NFS and CIFS/SMB protocols
  • Solid understanding of Linux including system and/or storage administration
  • HPC Job scheduling, optimization and best practice skills a must
  • Strong technical skills in systems operations, networking and computing
  • GPU and massively parallel computing experience a plus
  • A professional focus on solution delivery and excellent customer-service
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with your own team, technical IT partners, and customers
  • Can communicate effectively in both written and verbal form to non-technical audiences
  • Preferred: 2-3 years of experience supporting scientists in an academic or Biotech research setting
