Position Summary:

We are working with an innovative international company that is looking for a R&D Project Manager. This role will lead the scale up and production side of driving quality and delicious new products to commercialization. The successful candidate will collaborate with and manage external product development partners in food science, sourcing and production. He/she will direct ingredient sourcing and forecasting, champion food quality and consistency and oversee production with external suppliers. The right candidate will have a successful background in R&D project management. It is critical for this individual to strategically design and develop operational procedures that support new product development and commercialization. This key team member will be part of the US launch team and have a passion for launching/creating a growing business and maintaining an established business.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage the supply chain and production side of the commercialization process with external partners
  • Leads & manages commercialization documentation such as: executing confidentiality agreements and company manufacturing agreements
  • Evaluates and substantiate supplier capabilities; develop ingredient specifications; create and manage recipe food costs, nutrition panels, and ingredient statements; develop and manage test market & national launch timelines, forecast & communicate ingredient inventory and production run requirements to support new product in-market testing and national rollout; while coordinating with quality assurance, purchasing and production.
  • Handles the commercial feasibility of the innovation process
  • Provides QA expertise/direction/support in production of new and existing products
  • Negotiate with new and existing suppliers, own and maintain supplier relationships
  • Identify new trends for sourcing; strive for cost savings while maintaining strict quality standards
  • Develop relationships/rapport with QA and Plant Managers of external/co-manufacturers along with external food science/development team
  • Lead the production of samples for internal and external requests
  • Take a lead role in customer & sales presentations when needed
  • Participate in conference calls with senior leadership in other regions and time zones
  • Travel up to 20-30%. Domestic and international travel to external partners and suppliers

Required Skills/Qualifications (including but not limited to):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in food science, or closely related Applied Science is required
  • 10+ years of R&D food experience, primarily on the project management side. Must be well versed in scale up and product commercialization process
  • Proven experience in project management that includes: documentation, timeline development & execution and effective and timely communication cross functionally
  • Emotional stability and personal maturity are important attributes in this position. Must be able to lead teams, resolve problems, and make effective decisions in a fast-paced environment. Ability to give, receive, and analyze information, formulate work plans and prepare written materials and articulate goals & action plans.
  • Must have a valid passport; ability to travel internationally
