Summary:  The Texas Regional Imaging Clinical Coordinator will be responsible for the supervision and training of Clinical Instructors and preceptors and is the primary point of communication between the clinical sites and the program. The Texas Regional Imaging Clinical Coordinator is responsible for scheduling and coordinating students in clinical assignments to ensure alignment with curriculum sequencing, as well as equitable and educationally valid experiences. The Texas Regional Imaging Clinical Instructor assists in the developing and maintaining clinical standards. The Texas Regional Imaging Clinical Coordinator may have limited teaching assignment that allow for adequate time for administrative responsibilities. This position reports to the Corporate Director of Imaging Programs at the College of Healthcare Professions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate clinical education for all clinical centers.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of the clinical education component of the program
  • Work in conjunction with the clinical instructors to assure standardization and consistency of rotation schedules, evaluations, policies and other procedures pertaining to the student’s clinical education.
  • Evaluate the competency-based clinical system and recommend revisions as necessary.
  • Quantitatively evaluate the student-instructor ratio and the effectiveness or lack of effectiveness based on outcomes; recommend action to the program director based on ABHES requirements.
  • Maintain federal, state and accreditation compliance
  • Monitor and maintain TWC and accreditation regulations of all student records with respect to site evaluations, time cards, surveys and any other required documentation
  • Attain a thorough knowledge of all rules and standards set forth by the state, federal and accrediting board with respect to the externship and ensure all rules and regulations are adhered to
  • Provide online didactic instruction as recommended by the program director.
  • Prepare lesson plans, course syllabi, and course outlines for online didactic and clinical courses.
  • Review Radiologic Technology course syllabi, outlines, the Program and Clinical Handbooks annually and assure compliance to the essentials or recommend revisions, additions, or changes when necessary.
  • Ensure accuracy of student clinical records, attendance, evaluations, etc.
  • Ensure accuracy and determination of clinical grades.
  • Prepare students for clinical rotations and complete pre-clinical documentation
  • Review program curriculum regularly in relation to the College of Healthcare Professions criteria for certificates and degrees.
  • Provide regular counseling and advising for students, based on their clinical and online didactic performance and progress in the program.
  • Maintain records of the overall clinical rotation schedule and attendance of students.
  • Maintains the CHCP master affiliation agreement list/database including pre-clinical requirements and documentation. (Radiology Technician)
  • Serves as the point of contact for new clinical affiliation agreements and has the responsibility of monitoring and maintaining compliance with affiliation agreement requirements.
  • Ensure and maintain compliance standards at all times and hold students to established clinical standards
  • Seek and possess proficiency in curriculum development, program supervision, online classroom and clinical instruction, program and individual evaluation, and student counseling.
  • Attend clinical educators, radiology, and educator workshops, seminars, and conferences to remain up to date in knowledge of imaging techniques, educational methodology, and the ABHES and ARRT standards.
  • Provide pertinent information to the program director and clinical instructors about instructional methodologies and ways to integrate online didactic and clinical learning.
  • Assist the program director with overall program effectiveness.
  • Serve on appointed committees within the College of Healthcare Professions as specified by the Program Director, the Vice President of Digital Academic Services, or the President of the Online Division.
  • Participate in continuing education and attend district, state, and/or national professional organizational meetings.
  • Strive consistently to be a positive example for the program, the sponsoring institutions, the community, the students, and the graduates of the program.
  • Participate in clinical site development and recruitment for the program.
  • Assist online academic team with tasks as assigned.
  • Utilize computer programs and required software as required to support the RT Program
  • Assist with supervision and clinical oversight of other CHCP Imaging programs as needed
  • Works closely with the Placement Coordinator on assisting the student into employment after graduation

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

  • Baccalaureate degree required.
  • Minimum of two years of post-certification experience as a professional radiographer.
  • Minimum of one year experience as an instructor in an accredited radiography program.
  • Current ARRT and Texas Medical Board GMRT
  • Show documented evidence of continued professional education.

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of students, customers or employees of organization.  Key Words: ARRT and Texas Medical Board GMRT, Radiology, Xray, Imaging

Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and perform statistical analysis.

Reasoning Ability:

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software and Internet software.

Certificates and Licenses:

Credentialed in good standing in radiography by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or possess suitable equivalent qualifications in other imaging modalities.

Travel Requirement:

  • Approximately 50% to include some travel outside of the Houston Metro Area
  • Valid Driver’s License.
