Task Description:

The Systems Tools Engineer is responsible to create a tool concept and the development of tools to support product development and testing at the system level. Tools could be: simulations, test automation software and hardware or HIL-systems, etc.

Requested Knowledge:

• Electrical engineer or technician or cognate studies
• Profound technical knowledge of automotive electronics products. Familiar with typical automotive OEM requirements. Can anticipate customer requirements, even if not stated in customer documentation.
• Knowledge of product development engineering practices in the automotive field (e.g. Requirements management, Configuration management, Change management, testing and review techniques)
• Knowledge about ECU architectures (features, components, communication) 
• Familiar with customer`s best practice and applied methods, processes and tools (e.g. system engineering & testing. Testing can be broken down into system, system integration, software & algorithm development)
• Familiar with vehicle power management concepts
• Familiar with PC Systems, its interfaces and hardware (like RAID controller, USB controller, Storage devices, etc.)
• Familiar with measurement and automation devices and methods like power supplies, video grabber, scope and multi-meters
• Familiar with communication protocols
  • Automotive like CAN, LIN, Flexray, Auto Ethernet, OBD, UDS, XCP, etc.
  • Embedded interfaces like UART, SPI, I²C, etc.
  • Measurement and automation device interfaces like RS232, USB, TCP, etc.
  • PC interfaces like (e)SATA, USBx, PCIe, etc.

• Capable to lead sub-supplier team and track progress
• Programming language like C, C++, C#, Java, LabView
• Script languages like AutoIt, Phyton or VBA
• Office Tools e.g. MS Office package (Excel, Word, Visio, PowerPoint, Basics in Project)
• Analysis and engineering tools such as version control/configuration management, UML tools, Comparators
• ALM tools (prefers PTC Integrity)
• Working knowledge of Vector, Labview and ADTF based tools

Methodic Skills:

• Experience with acquisition, identifying and rating of system tool requirements from stakeholder, specifications, standards and laws
• Knowledge about system (software) design techniques and UML diagrams, especially: Class, Activity, Sequence, Timing and State diagrams
• Experienced with programming structures, patterns and concepts of structural and object oriented programmingKnowledge about measurement and acquisition techniques of analogue and digital signals and communication protocols
• Basic knowledge about hardware and mechanical design
• Familiar with concepts of version control/configuration management tools like check out, sharing, baselining, comparing, merging, etc.
• Basic knowledge about test design and scripting
• Knowledge of ISO26262
• Knowledge of structured problem-solving methods and/or techniques
