Overview: This role will be an integral part of the maintenance and engineering team for a capital district food manufacturer.  The Controls Engineer will mentor/train, be hands on with electrical software, while playing an active part in the planning for capital projects within the plant.  Please apply with us ASAP to be considered!

Job Duties:

  • Support automation systems within the plant – PLC’s, VFDs and safety devices
  • Assigns & participates in the engineering & maintenance of plant equipment and facilities
  • Ensures work quality and is involved in plant CI plans
  • Works with management to plan and review technical plans for the facility
  • Coordinates with management on production schedules, identifies resource needs, and communicates action plans
  • Works to develop procedures and continuously recommends efficient changes on existing standards
  • Participates in the recruitment of plant technical support staff. Provides training and helps implement discipline procedures
  • Prepares analytical & statistical reports on operations and other plant activities
  • Be an active participant in group meetings
  • Stays up to date on engineering and maintenance trends and technical updates.
  • Responsible for writing specs and observing plant assets. Coordinate with technical team members on plant updates.
  • Assists management in the creation of training materials and project documentation
  • Supports prep for capital project plans, budgets and schedules
  • Prepares system integration plans, system specification and acceptance test documents



Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’ Degree with 7+ years’ experience working in a manufacturing controls environment. IF one does NOT have a Bachelor’s Degree, an Associate’s Degree or related Electrical Training/Certificate is acceptable with 10-15 years’ experience in a manufacturing controls environment. 
  • Experience in food CPG manufacturing environment is preferred although, any type of manufacturing will be accepted with the necessary experience
  • Strong in controls system is an absolute must. Must have strong understanding of electrical control systems –preferred systems: Rockwell PLC, ControlLogix, HMI/Factory Talk
  • Possess strong knowledge of design, specification & implementation of software & hardware systems
  • Comfortable working in a highly automated plant
  • Previous capital project planning and development experience is a must
  • Must have a background in training and is willing to train/mentor technical staff
  • Able to coordinate above average on a team level and coordinate cross functionally
  • Very proficient in Microsoft Office – Excel, PowerPoint, and Access
  • Highly effective problem-solving skills, strong ability to think outside of the box
