Controls Project Engineer

Duties & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Provide management on all facets of controls, electrical, design, construction & maintenance
  • Investigate & report on problems and recommend solutions
  • Create, develop, organize & maintain process controls/electrical engineering specifications, standards and/or process equipment parameters to ensure process stability and efficiency
  • Develops, manages and  implements the overall process controls & electrical engineering plans/projects
  • Manage multiple projects, vendors and contractors
  • Maintains capital budget & equipment schedules in accordance with plant construction, expansion and/or new product objectives
  • Communicate with plant personnel on projects, priorities, budgets and timelines as required
  • Act and serve as technical authority on process controls/electrical engineering matters
  • Approve related technical specifications on drawing and/or literature
  • Constantly tries to reduce facility & manufacturing operating costs
  • Utilize best method analysis to improve internal systems
  • Stay up to date with engineering trends and developments
  • Recommend changes in policies and/or procedures as appropriate
  • Travels as necessary. Estimate up to 50%.
  • Organize and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Performs other duties or assignments as directed

Required Skills/Qualifications (including but not limited to):

  • Bachelor’s degree and min 3 years’ experience, if no degree must have 10 years of food/beverage experience with PLC’s
  • A strong working knowledge of process, mechanical & electrical engineering is required with strong emphasis on process controls
  • Strong experience in PLC/HMI programming and VFD’s  (Allen Bradley)
  • Ability to think ahead and plan over a 1-3 year timeframe.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, analytical & leadership skills are required
  • Strong working knowledge of regulatory codes, blue print reading & use of Microsoft Project is required
  • Must have strong leadership skills with demonstrated ability to get results through others
  • Strong vendor/contractor management skills
  • Needs to have strong project management skills including ability to manage multiple multi-plant projects simultaneously
  • Working knowledge of GMPs, FDA, USDA & OSHA regulations
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment background, drug and criminal screens
