Job Summary:

This position assists in the daily workflow of the cardiac cath lab.  Management of staffing, communication with physicians and ensuring cases flow without delay is the primary duty of this position.  Close supervision of inventory management and technical troubleshooting are secondary duties.  Other assignments as requested by management will be included and are defined below.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

The following is a summary of the major functions of this individual's job.  He or she may perform other duties, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below, and specific functions may change from time to time.


Performs all invasive cardiac procedures with technical accuracy and a thorough understanding of all procedures performed.


Assists in the orientation of new personnel.


Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular system, knowledge of sterile technique, radiation safety and equipment safety.


Demonstrates in depth knowledge of transferring images to digital archive or PACS for permanent record.


Assists in recording an accurate medical history and physical assessment according to procedure to be performed within the current EMR system. 


Coordinates vendor scheduling for in-services and support.


Schedules routine calibrations and preventative maintenance for all equipment.


Performs and directs bi-monthly case presentations/M&M conferences. 


Demonstrates a working knowledge of x-ray equipment, pressure injector, digital processing and hemodynamic equipment. Serves as a resource and can troubleshoot issues efficiently.


Serves as resource/back up for time and attendance management


Takes call as assigned. This includes non-call staff in efforts to cover call as needed at the discretion of the management.
