 Our client is a leading manufacturer of organic dairy products and is seeking a qualified individual to join their growing business. This position is a key role within the company’s strategic plan. An enthusiastic self-starter with a strong drive to learn and improve processes and systems is highly desired. This position will be an integral part of Risk Management by participating in activities related to dairy market economics, along with promoting risk management directly with their customers

  

Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Act as an expert on milk management. Educate/consult/share best practices with Team.  Provide updates on current dairy markets fundamentals and create recommendations/strategies based on risk tolerance.
  • Manage sales and balancing of organic and Grass-Fed milk supply. Track and maintain accurate assessment of seasonal milk supply, capacity, and directed utilization.
  • Elevate economic analysis beyond data reporting by adding insight on relationships between various indicators & proactively highlighting potential trends and implications and provide recommendations to the organization and its customers. This includes the development of reports, publications and presentations on this information to internal partners and external customers. 
  • Maintain skills associated with professional commodity management: tracking markets, market trends, long term availability, price pressures and elasticity, agri-related issues arising from seasonal changes, etc.
  • Manage and consolidate the details of company’s milkshed and consistently report on the health of the farm-shed operation.
  • Determine and monitor capacity and utilization and optimize delivery mechanisms; recommend milk-shed re-alignment activities as needed and forecast needs for future capacity by region.
  • Perform the routine scheduling of milk into co-packers and partner network
  • Drive balancing activities across aggregate volume, including working on seasonal models with finance, and determining relevant outlets for excess milk.
  • Manage trade and sales activity to insure excess milk is moved in a financial positive manner
  • Work hand-in-hand with production planning to insure proper inventory balance

 

Required Skills/Qualifications (including but not limited to):

  • 5+ years of experience in dairy economic analysis and commodity markets
  • Background in commodity management, preferably in a dairy industry environment
  • Commodity hedging and/or risk management experience highly preferred.
  • 3+ years of Supply Chain Planning experience
  • Knowledge of Supply Chain concepts and application
  • Strong analytical, planning, and organizational skills
  • Strong oral and written interpersonal and communication skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Ag Economics, Finance, Dairy Science, Business or related field preferred
  • APICS CPIM/CSCP certification or certification in process preferred
  • Experience with Intacct or Oracle based system preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Excel programs
  • Must be comfortable in front of customers and internal executives
  • Willingness to travel domestically when needed
