Development Manager

The Development Manager is responsible for new product development, product enhancements, product redesign, as well as coordinating with other departments to make process improvements.

 

Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Upholds expert level of product knowledge and application.
  • Recommends the nature and scope of present and future product lines by reviewing product specifications and requirements; appraising new product ideas.
  • Evaluates and resolves technical feasibility, design optimization, and production issues.
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvement
  • Creates formulation changes which improve overall product include coating & additives application.
  • Optimizes Design of Experiment which includes improving experimentation protocols
  • Utilizes statistical methods for development and process analysis.
  • Search patent and Intellectual Property information for successful product development
  • Identifies & provides reliable solutions for technical issues to assure customer satisfaction through all stages of the process
  • Research & monitor existing client base & industry developments & identify potential new product opportunities.
  • Works with other departments to establish design, technology, product development, & vendor strategy.
  • Articulates technology & product positioning to both business & technical users.
  • Listen, understand & convey customer requirements.
  • Provides status of ongoing projects & future projects.
  • Supports Technical team as needed to meet demands.
  • Identifies customer's needs and opportunities to help future growth.
  • Adhere to FDA compliance for food contact.

Required Skills/Qualifications (including but not limited to):

  • BS in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or closely related degree required; Organic Chemistry preferred
  • 3-5 years in coatings (water based), inks, paints, adhesives, or plastic polymer industry strongly preferred
  • Experience with converting and/or thermal lamination preferred
  • Must have a strong technical aptitude
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, & organizational skills
  • Available to travel 10%
  • Analytical & Self-driven
  • Must be able to pass a background, physical, and drug screen
