Sr. Director of Quality, Product Development & Regulatory Compliance

Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Oversees Quality, Product Development and Regulatory Compliance for the company
  • Provides coaching, direction & leadership support to team members
  • Manages team of Quality/Product Development specialists
  • Responsible for setting the quality agenda & ensure food safety, regulatory compliance and consumer standards are met
  • Provide leadership for product development stages from concept to launch and provide perspective on all potential new products & concepts  
  • Ensure all projects and startups are executed within budgets and timelines
  • Confirm Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) compliance of co-packers
  • Initiate and provide ongoing education & certifications for all key operations and support personnel in respect of current & future governmental legislation, industry and company standards and trends
  • Must be able to travel up to 20%
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Required Skills/Qualifications (including but not limited to):

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Food Engineering or related degree required
  • 12+ years of experience in the food & beverage industry; dairy and/or natural food & beverage experience strongly preferred
  • 10+ years of experience in a Product Development and/or Quality management role including some experience managing people; packaging development experience is a plus
  • Must have strong knowledge of food safety and all applicable regulations
  • Experience developing and maintaining company records relating to process work flows, equipment maintenance, etc. is required
  • Needs to have general knowledge of FDA labeling regulations
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required
  • Proven ability to operate successfully in a fast-paced organization as well as working in cross functional teams
  • Needs to be able to prioritize project workloads based upon available resources and business needs  
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required
  • Must be able to pass all pre-employment background, drug and criminal screens
