General Production Supervisor

Our customer is a leader in the HVAC industry, and currently seeking 2 experienced General Supervisors for 2nd shift roles. We are looking for candidates with a drive to excel in a rapidly growing manufacturing environment. Advancement opportunities exist for these roles. These positions are all available due to company expansion. The General Supervisors in these roles lead production employees personally or through subordinate supervisors. You’ll be supporting the manufacture of technologically advanced HVAC parts and equipment for the commercial and residential markets. These are direct hire positions in Owatonna, MN. Current hours are 4 10 hours days, schedule will be changing to 3 12 hour shifts (Paid for 40 hours).
 
Responsibilities

  • Manages 3-6 subordinate Production Supervisors who supervise a total of 50+ employees in the assigned Production Departments. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these departments.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Promotes safety within all manufacturing processes and enforces compliance with safety processes and procedures.
  • Prepares operational schedules and coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications.
  • Reviews production and operating reports and resolves operational, manufacturing, and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.
  • Resolves manpower, material and equipment issues.
  • Monitors machines and equipment to ensure specific operational performance and optimum utilization.
  • Surveys all manufacturing operations to determine areas for process investigations.  Recommends process changes where justifiable by cost studies.
  • Develops or revises standard operational and working practices and observes workers to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Resolves worker grievances or submits unsettled grievances to Production Manager and Human Resources for action.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and seven to ten years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • knowledge of Microsoft Word word-processing software, Excel spreadsheet software, Internet software and Oracle Enterprise Resource Planning software.
