Description

Essential Functions:
• Partner with Network Engineers, System Administrators, Database Administrators, Architects, Applications Engineers, and Project Managers to support their      technical monitoring requirements.
• Utilize best practices and provide recommendations to improve problem identification and response time in network systems.
• Track and maintain the standard baselines and configuration sets of enterprise infrastructure and implement industry best practices with regards to:
• Windows and Linux based server technologies
• Application-based monitoring
• Infrastructure utilization and capacity analysis
• LAN/WAN monitoring and capacity analysis
• Large server farm monitoring
• Patch management
• Responsible for providing 24/7 on-call coverage on a rotating basis.
• Participate in complex problem solving situations. Identify process improvement opportunities through infrastructure monitoring and analytics.
• Ensure timely and effective delivery of automated systems patches, upgrades, and new configurations.
• Participate in design sessions, architectural reviews and technical advisory roles as required.
• Interact with customers at the technical level as required


Requirements:
• Experience in Systems Monitoring & Management Engineer role
• Experience with virtualization technologies (Citrix, VMWare, etc.)
• Experience with monitoring products (Nagios, SolarWinds, NimSoft, CA UIM, SCOM)
• Working knowledge of management and monitoring tools, such as Solarwinds, NimSoft, CA UIM, ExtraHop, SCCM
• History of scripting in various languages including PowerShell, Perl, Python
• Familiarity with networking technologies (routing, switching, load balancing, security, VPN)
• Knowledge of server hardware, Cisco UCS preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding of network applications, web servers, email servers, firewalls, databases, file shares and print servers
• Working knowledge of SAN and NAS technologies.
• Working knowledge of server clustering technologies
• Detailed knowledge of Microsoft's best practices for system support, including topics such as securing, patching and monitoring.
• Familiarity with database technologies such as MS-SQL.
• Commitment to excellent customer service.
• Proven ability to manage own work and meet deadlines.
• Proven track record creating documentation
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in cross-functional project teams.
• Mathematical, analytical and statistical aptitude.
• Interpersonal and problem solving skills are required.
• Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written.
• Active listening skills are required.
• With assistance, demonstrate growing proficiency in the following skills: Data collection, analysis, and reporting, debugging skills, Interpersonal skills, Communication Skills, Decision making skills, and Problem solving skills.
• Knowledge and understanding of process flows, change management process, systems development life cycle methodologies, and correlate technical actions to business impact.
• System skills in Excel, Access, Word, Visio, Outlook and Internet/Intranet in addition to other job related system, Respective department system knowledge, Project, PowerPoint, and ServiceNow.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 1-3 years of experience supporting large scale network environments
• Bachelor degree or equivalent experience

Required Skills
This position is responsible for supporting the configuration and operation of real-time monitoring, alerting and reporting of the enterprise network infrastructure.
