WNET seeks an attorney to join its in-house Legal Department.  The selected individual will manage program business and legal affairs for WNET and its production subsidiaries in connection with acquisition, production, pre-broadcast review and distribution of public television programs in all media. 

Specific responsibilities will include negotiating and drafting agreements concerning various aspects of WNET’s business, including the acquisition, co-production and distribution of public television programs; conducting pre-broadcast review and advising producers regarding news gathering activities in connection with news, documentary and current affairs programming;  counseling in-house clients (including producers, underwriting and marketing directors, business units and Senior Management) with respect to FCC regulations/communications law, copyright and trademark, employment law, corporate & non-profit law and other general matters.


Required Skills

A JD and be admitted to the New York Bar;
Minimum of three (3) years of experience in deal structuring, negotiating and drafting contracts;

One or more of the following skill sets: First Amendment and newsgathering law; communications law/FCC regulations and procedures, copyright/trademark and non-profit law;

Excellent writing, communication, research and organizational skills;
Flexibility and resourcefulness in working effectively on multiple projects;

Ability to succeed in a deadline-driven environment; strong attention to detail, follow-through, and organization.
