Business Development Manager

Summary:

The Business Development Manager is newly created role with a strong sensor manufacturing company. This is a highly entrepreneurial role that will focus to strengthen their client base in the dairy and brewery industry. Our client is looking for excellent leadership, motivation and the ability to implement an effective plan on gaining new business.   

Duties and Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Cultivate an annual & mid-term comprehensive marketing plan. This plan should include sales forecasts, orders, and data.
  • Product positioning verse the competition.
  • Tactical channel management – which includes the development of new channels. 
  • OEM account development when necessary.
  • Manages inventory to optimize sales while minimizing inventory costs.
  • Continuingly reviews active project review/coordination.
  • Promotes the product line – monitors gross margins.
  • Gives product trainings.   
  • Expert on product application and communication to sales channels. 
  • Up to date on food/beverage industry trends that impacts the product and new opportunities.
  • Standards committees where applicable.
  • Provides technical support.

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience. MBA preferred but not mandatory
  • 7-10 years of sales/product/marketing experience – preferably with food/beverage
  • Sensor sales experience is ideal.
  • Must have sales experience and/or understanding of the OEM selling process is necessary.
  • A history working with distributors is necessary
  • Knowledge of the industrial market- including factory automation is ideal
  • Must have clear written and verbal communication skills – with the ability to make formal presentations & informal presentations.
  • Must have a motivational personality to get people to accomplish their goals.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • 50-75% travel required – based on customer/market demands.
