We are looking for a qualified candidate to support a vibrant and active research effort ongoing at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) in the Materials and Manufacturing Directorate. Working as an onsite contractor at AFRL is a unique opportunity to solve important, long term challenges that guide research efforts in an environment that strongly encourages collaboration (government/academic/industry), publication in top journals, and conference attendance.
The candidate will serve as an onsite contractor working with the AFRL team to develop the chemistries and processing methods required to 3D print anisotropic materials systems, such as liquid crystalline elastomers. The candidate is expected to work closely with polymer chemists, computational mechanical engineers, and process scientists. Skills and experience of interest include rheology of soft matter, polymer science, characterization techniques, and mechanical testing.

Other Experience, Qualifications, Skills and Education Requirements:
Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics (applied, engineering, or classical), Polymer Science, or related field of study.
Recent PhD graduate in the disciplines listed
Knowledge of various 3D printing processes and techniques
Ability to work in multi-disciplined and diverse teams
Proficient oral and written communication
Ability to generate novel ideas and approaches, and to build consensus for topical research direction
Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen

Publications in peer-reviewed journals, and/or technical briefings or poster presentations on related topics.
