Our client is a leading provider of innovative avionics systems and is seeking a hardware engineer who thrives in an engaging environment where employees enjoy a fun and flexible work environment. In this product development role, you will work in a collaborate team environment as a Hardware Project Engineer working on a product development team supporting avionics hardware and software development through specification, system analysis and documentation of product requirements and testing of hardware in aircraft avionic systems. This position will also assist in identifying new technology applications for future product development. This is a direct hire position available due to company growth in the Minneapolis area.


  • Creating derived system requirements, display, monitoring and built-in-test functions for implementation in hardware and software.
  • Utilize DOORS, and other tools as need to meet program milestones
  • Assist in electrical architecture and detailed design resulting from system requirements
  • Analysis, design, integration, and qualification testing required
  • Hands-on hardware testing, production test requirements definition and documentation
  • Participation in proposal efforts, deriving technical solutions, communicating and documenting the technical approach for the proposal and submitting cost and schedule estimates for product upgrades, improvements or development
  • Prepare and present technical data to internal and external customers as the primary technical interface
  • Assist in the creation, execution, and tracking of project schedules and customer deliverables
  • Provide engineering expertise in the maintenance and support of legacy products
  • Support the development of documentation necessary for FAA certification and new product release


  • MS or BS in electrical engineering, computer engineering combined with 2 years related experience, or 5 years related field experience with avionic hardware design and development
  • Experience with aircraft systems, ARINC 429, MIL-STD-1553, RTCA DO-178B / DO-254, DOORS, MIL-STD-461 / MIL-STD-810 / DO-160 and FAA processes strongly desired
  • Experience in electronic hardware manufacturing and test
  • Experienced with protocols within airplane systems
