WNET New York Public Media is offering an undergraduate fellowship funded by the Reginald F. Lewis Foundation, Inc. for distinguished students who meet the following criteria:

  • Is a member of a minority group as defined by the EEOC, i.e., African American, Native American, Hispanic, or Asian;
  • Is at least a first semester junior (completed sophomore year) and currently enrolled at an accredited educational institution;
  • Has completed at least one applied course in their major;
  • Has at least a 2.5 overall grade point average.

Project topics will be varied and will expose students to such areas as broadcast/online production, event planning, corporate communications, fundraising, corporate facilities, sponsorship, information technology and marketing.

A maximum of two Fellowships will be awarded during Summer of 2017. Those who have been determined by their schools to meet the above criteria will then undergo the screening process for the available fellowship positions. Length of each Fellowship will be no more than 13 weeks and students will be paid an hourly wage of $15.00 per hour, not to exceed 20 hours in a given week. Colleges, at their discretion, may award participating students academic credit for the fellowship but participating students may not concurrently receive an additional stipend.

TERM: 10 – 12 Weeks

Summer (starting 6/5/2017, ending 8/31/2017)

Please submit a one-page written statement about your interest in the Reginald Lewis Fellowship that includes the reasons why you applied for the fellowship, why you believe you should be selected over other candidates and what you hope to gain from this fellowship. If you are selected for the fellowship, you will also be required to submit a comprehensive summary of your experiences due at the conclusion of your term that will be submitted to the Reginald F. Lewis Foundation, Inc. and reviewed by its Board of Directors.
