The Lab Information System Analyst will be responsible for configuration and management for the Orchard Harvest LIS and COPIA applications.  The Orchard Harvest system is utilized by Surgery Partners Logan Laboratories to record drug test results.  COPIA is used internally as the master configuration and externally as the Provider Portal.  This role will be responsible for management and implementation of laboratory systems, including data gathering and analysis of methods and procedures; operational instructions, and computer program specifications; and implementation and support involving systems testing and user training.  The position is a combination of system support and business system analysis.



Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Bachelor’s degree in an Information Technology field preferred.

3+ years of experience supporting a Laboratory and Lab Information System application. 

Experience with setup and maintenance of HL7 interfaces between lab system and other 3rd party software, as well as experience configuring and maintaining instrument interfaces. 

3+ years of business analysis experience.  Ability to work with laboratory staff to implement all aspects of system requirements.

Manages the development and installation of computer or software upgrades from the point of evaluation, budgeting, proposal, testing, project management, vendor execution of upgrade, quality control, and acceptance

Ability to manage and execute competing priorities in a complex environment.

Ability to work with minimum supervision and make decisions based on available information.

Ability to communicate effectively and professionally while demonstrating a cooperative work attitude toward fellow employees.

Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and their capabilities.


Working knowledge of the complete SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle), including analysis, design, code, and testing of applications.

Project management experience creating and maintaining scope documents, business requirements, technical documentation, test plans, and deployment plans.

General understanding of the Healthcare Industry a plus.


Monitors and oversees the performance of the ORCHARD systems to ensure that they are functioning correctly and meeting the needs of the lab and supporting workflow.  Troubleshoot any application issues.

Systems analysis, policy and procedure documentation, test plans, system performance, and user training.

Work with corporate Information Technology, Third party vendors, and Laboratory staff to optimize system performance.

Design and maintain configuration within Harvest & COPIA applications.

Test and deploy from development to production environments.

Implement interfaces from internal & external applications to meet business needs.

Design and build any necessary reports from system.

Troubleshoot errors within the system identified by end users and work with application developer to resolve.
