Direct Marketing Statistical Modeler

General Purpose
Operating within the core values and operating principles of the organization, the Direct Marketing Statistical Modeler is responsible for building mathematical models to predict purchase, policy lapse, and other customer behavior in order to improve profitability and sales in the direct marketing channels.  Track model performance and report results to management. 
Develop and identify marketing segmentation opportunities, and create customer profiles to enhance our knowledge of customers and members.
Keep up to date on current practice in the subjects of statistical response modeling and database marketing.  Assist in developing the modeling and analytic teams.
Position Responsibilities
·         Analyze, develop, and interpret data models and protocols for mining marketing databases. Monitor model performance.  Report findings to management and recommend improvements and/or solutions, such as alternative products, package, segmentation, or modeling.
o   Identify, collect, verify and prepare data for use in modeling engagements
o   Design and construct datasets to facilitate the modeling process
o   Develop procedures and standards regarding predictive modeling
o   Utilize variable selection techniques to prioritize variables for multivariate analysis
o   Build and implement response models for each direct mail product/geography
  • Design and implement metrics to monitor model expectations against experience to determine areas of model weakness
  • Prepare and maintain a general modeling strategy.
·         While working with extremely large data sets, create order out of chaotic and complex data.
·         Design and implement statistical data quality procedures around data sources.
·         Assist senior team members in explaining and presenting analysis results and proposals to internal and external clients.
·         Provide instruction to analytics team members in statistics and statistical modeling.
  • Research innovations in technology and modeling techniques that can improve client's ability to market to its customers.  Report to management feasibility of use within client.
·         Make suggestions for A/B testing, product sequencing, and customer marketing.

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Probability and Statistics, Operations Research, Linear Programming, Computer Programming, Economics, Finance, and Marketing is required.  Master’s degree preferred.
·         Minimum 7 years prior work experience with CRM/Database Marketing/Analytics Consulting, Data Mining, Statistical Model Development
·         Must demonstrate proficiency in data mining models, structures, or methods.
·         Strong familiarity with data preparation, processing, classification and forecasting.
·         Prior technical experience with relational databases.
·         Direct experience with data management techniques and algorithm development.
·         Insurance or member organization experience is a plus.
